I would just point out that Ealing lost last week.

Ofc - there will always be oddities. They even lost to us (somehow!) a few years ago. More a general point - theyve spent the last half a decade with total points differences 3-400 more than anyone else - which tells its own story

I agree with this sentiment. I think some away supporters stay away due to the expectation of being beaten soundly. Conversely, so many games are like today (blowouts) that some Ealing supporters dont bother coming. I wish the crowds were bigger, but until there is jeopardy, I dont think they will be.

Cambridge lost every game last year unfortunately. Scottish used a number of DRs and loanees; I don’t know whether they have the same facility this season. However comments on last weeks’s match at Camborne suggested LS were pretty competitive, certainly compared with Cambridge’s heavy defeat at home to Camborne on Saturday.Park Ranger wrote: Sun Oct 11, 2026 7:08 am Just a few observations from a Nat One supporter here who dips into this thread to follow the fortunes of the two promoted sides last season. Great to see Roth and Club doing well which is no surprise but what on earth did you guys do to Cambridge and Scottish who are having a torrid time in Nat One this season? Many of you will have noted that Plymouth Albion have predictably got off to a great start and look certain to join you as it looks highly likely that they could potentially win every match this season.

A great away win by Donny this week, much improved

Scottish deal with quins is dead i believe. We haven't had a single quin play for us yet, and quins have implemented the 'jesters' A team to take our place.Cheshire Exile wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 9:17 amCambridge lost every game last year unfortunately. Agree with park ranger - been really teresting how well Rotherham are doing (and Blackheath albeit with one win have not looked out of place) Contrast with how poorly Scottish and Cambridge are doing in N1.
Says a lot about the quality gap between the divisions and how much N1 has improved while the lack off relegation in the Champ in most seasons has caused teams to stagnate. The likes of Plymouth and Sale wouldn't look out of place int he Championship either imo. Id argue there is probably a more fluid overlap between bottom of the champ and top of n1 than a linear quality.

Others will know more but I believe the LS link with Quins has been dramatically scaled back this season and it is beginning to look as though LS are gradually improving and showing the benefit of regaining much of their own identity. (The same can't be said for Quins!).Cheshire Exile wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 9:17 amCambridge lost every game last year unfortunately. Plymouth were very good last season and could easily have won the league, they only seem to have improved and have made their ambitions clear about the Champ and eventually the Prem. They would be competitive in the Champ. Sale FC are not far off at all, they pushed us close in our last game, last season.
Roth have made a fantastic start, Harvey Biljon knows the league and has the backing of the club. There is a long way to go for us though and we have been on the right end of some very close games, it could easily have been the other way and we may only have 1 win on the board so we need to keep our heads down and keep trying to improve. Tough league. We go to Mond in the next game who will be targeting us as a much needed win. Any points from the Mond game will be hard earned and very important.

I’m pretty confident Plymouth would hold their own in this league and would probably finish ahead of at least Richmond. Their attendances are also higher than anyone in this league bar Worcester, Bedford and Cov (maybe even higher than Cov now). So I think they would continue to progress if/when they are promoted. Less sure on any others. But I think there’s no doubt that the few years of no relegation meant the teams at the top of Nat 1 had overtaken the bottom of the Champ as proven by the ease in which Blackheath beat Scottish in the playoffs and the relative performance of the promoted and relegated teams this season. Cambridge were no better than a mid table Nat 1 team last season.
On the note of attendances, I noticed Rotherham only got 750 odd for their game against Caldy. Given their successful start to this season and how long it’s taken them to get back to this league, I was surprised at how poor their attendance is and am still slightly confused as to how they operate a 50 player squad (if that is correct).

To be fair LS and Cambridge were well adrift of everyone else last season. I’m not sure I entirely buy the stagnation argument.Dawson9 wrote: Mon Oct 12, 2026 11:15 amScottish deal with quins is dead i believe.
