Changes to the Champ bonus point system from the start of the coming season

So a team can lose 21-15. 7 pens to 3 trys and they would get 2 pts

THE DRAW

• A Standard Draw (2 Points Each): The match finishes tied. Both teams get 2 points. Because it’s a draw, neither side can have “3 tries more” than the other, meaning zero bonus points are available in a draw. So going forward there will be no try bonus points if you draw, so the apportioning of 3 match points to each team will NOT apply in the Champ.

There is no clause excluding draws from the attacking bonus point.
So the attacking bonus point is purely about the try differential, regardless of result.

The position of a Club in Stage One of Champ Rugby shall be established by awarding four league points for a win and two league points for a draw. In addition, one bonus league point will be awarded to a team:

On each occasion it scores three (or such other number of tries provided that it shall be no less than three) more tries than the number of tries scored by the opposition in a Champ Rugby Match;
(ii)
On each occasion it loses a Champ Rugby match by seven points or less.

So, in your scenario:

• Team A: 3 unconverted tries = 15 points
• Team B: 5 penalties = 15 points
• Final score: 15–15 draw
• Try count: Team A 3, Team B 0 → Team A has 3 more tries


Applying the rules:

• Team A• Draw = 2 league points
• Attacking bonus (3 more tries) = 1 point
• Total: 3 points

• Team B• Draw = 2 league points
• No attacking bonus (0 tries)
• No losing bonus (didn’t lose)
• Total: 2 points


So yes — a try bonus point would be awarded to the team that scored 3 tries more, even in a draw.

So following that, a side loses 18-15 but score 3 tries versus 6 penalties the result would be a 4-2 league points distribution?
