Decent second half from Blackheath. Leading 33-19 and very nearly no-side.

Blackheath 33 Donny 26 FT.
Bar the first 15 minutes, that was unacceptable from the Knights. Feel sorry for the supporters that travelled a long way on a Sunday afternoon only to be served up that crap. I can take losing, but we gifted that to Blackheath on a plate through errors that no Championship side should make. Blackheath did well, but they won’t have an easier second half than that all season. I’m livid to be honest - there’s losing because an opponent’s better than you, and there’s losing because you continually shoot yourself in the foot - and the latter is unforgivable.

Club butchered four glorious try chances in the second half, and failed to take advantage when playing against 13 men, so should have won by a far greater margin. Donny fortunate to come away with the losing bonus point

Can’t fault the comments by either DKF or Fatbear. Deano certainly has his work cut out.

Mr Richards must be wondering what the hell he’s let himself in for. That really was so poor from the Knights, second half especially. We looked surprised that Blackheath were so up for it - well what did they expect?. They’ve had two very narrow losses, were playing at home against a team who would have been regarded as a “scalp” and had a few ex-Knights in their team who would have wanted to get one over on some old mates. From a Donny point of view that was such a dispiriting watch. I wasn’t at the game, (watched on Blaze) but there are some very loyal fans who make a lot of arduous journeys every other week to support the team and they’ve been “rewarded” with a lot of sub-standard performances over the last 12 months or so. Our away record since the start of last season is lamentable - 3 wins in the last 15!! - awful.JohnLowe1 wrote: Sun Oct 04, 2026 6:36 pm Can’t fault the comments by either DKF or Fatbear. I didn’t see the game as I was travelling but you have to give a lot of credit to Blackheath.
They are a very good side and ran Nottingham close and only lost to Caldy in the last play.
There are absolutely no easy games in this league and the two promoted clubs are absolutely not there to make up the numbers.

I think you have to give Rotherham a bit more credit than that.Cov Kid 42 wrote: Sat Oct 03, 2026 9:40 am Excellent perforamnce & results for Cov Rugby. Thw style & pace they are playing at is really exciting.
Makes a total mockery of throwing the game away at Rotherham

It’s already shaping up to be a very interesting season. Unfortunately last year Cambridge and London Scottish were well adrift of everyone else, but this year the two promoted clubs are a different proposition.
